Clothes party!

Here are the things I bought in Texas. None were over $9.99.

Denim jacket: $3.99

Blazer: $3.99, Paris Tank: $1.99 (Just realized you can't see the blazer well. Boo.)

Grandma sweater: $1.99

Blouse: $3.99

Cold-shoulder top: $3.99

Bow print T-shirt: $0.99 (I know! Amazing!)

White collar button-down: $3.99

Floral dress: $5.99 (I'm going to cut this shorter. It's a weird length right now.)

Maxi dress: $9.99

Close-up of the maxi's pattern

Orangey/coral shorts: $3.99 (Sorry about the wrinkles; I just wore these)

Striped shorts: $2.99

That's it for clothes! Sorry they're wrinkled. Most haven't been washed yet, haha. The only things I've worn so far are the maxi dress and the orange shorts.

Then I just got a few trinket things from the market.

Teeny tiny painted pots: $1.50 each

Old pillbox (from the flea market): $3.00

4 Tiles: $1.00 each (I'm going to glue them to the glass and put a picture in the frame behind them)

Finally done! Apologies for the epic length of both of these Texas posts, buuut as they say, "everything's bigger in Texas."

Giant post: San Antonio, Texas

I went to San Antonio this week! It's an 8-hour drive from New Orleans, but we had to do it in 10. I have three younger brothers, and the youngest has not yet grasped the "do not drink copious amount of anything while on a road trip" idea. We actually lived there after Hurricane Katrina for about 9 months because we ended up staying for the rest of that school year. Everyone was completely amazing and generous. It was so lovely to see everyone again, especially my friends Sara and Alicia. I hadn't seen them in almost six years! Craziness. Speaking of crazy, my mom's car also broke down on the side of the highway outside of Houston. We had to rent a car, and actually ended up selling hers because the repairs would end up being more than the car. And the rental car went through gas like you would not believe! It was a Nissan Armada, a.k.a. HUGE TANK-LIKE VEHICLE. We had to take it because it was the only thing that would fit all 6 of us. Oh well. it was still a good trip anyway, and that's what really mattered. On to the photos! I'll do pictures from the actual trip first, and show you some clothes I got in a separate post, otherwise this will be long as hell. Captions will be underneath the photos :]

Driving through Texas :]

Not sure if you can tell, but Jesus is a big deal

Typical Mexican pottery goodness

Pretty mirror and other assorted things in a shop

Mi Tierra's, my favorite restaurant in San Antonio!

Bridal gown with painted flowers. Thought that was pretty different.

Inside the lobby of Mi Tierra's, by all the dessert cases (yum)

In one of the dining areas of Mi Tierra's. It looks even cooler when you're actually in there, because the fans blow all the little decorations, so it's an absolute SEA of glittery gold and lights.

Statue of Our Lady of Guadeloupe. Love the colors so much!

Right, on to the clothes!

Shoes. Shoes. Shoes. Oh my God, shoes.

Hahaha Kelly reference in the title for you all! So I'm leaving to go to San Antonio tomorrow. I am very excited about that because I'll get to see my friends from Katrina year. It's been nearly six years since I saw them last. Can't wait! And in preparation for my trip, I needed shoes. I went to Wal-Mart to look for simple sandals. I just wanted a plain brown and a plain black pair, but the only ones I saw were really crappy ones that would fall apart after wearing them one or two times. I need shoes that will last. So I went to Payless, annnnnd:

Success!
The black pair was originally $24.99. They were on sale for $8. The brown suede-ish pair was originally $22.99. They were on sale for $7. Then Payless was having this thing where you spend $15 and get $3 off. So I paid $13 for two nice pairs of shoes that I can also wear on the trip, to work, school, etc.
#WINNING.

I smell yummeh.

Here are some things that I've been reaching for lately when I want to smell nice. Which is often, since it is SO HOT AND HUMID AND GROSS right now.
OK! So I'll go from left to right. Tahiti, Sweetie is a lotion from Bath & Body Works and it is delicious. It's also empty. I need a new bottle. If you like sweet, fruity-smelling things, you'll really like this a lot. It makes my skin very soft and soaks in quickly.

Next up is a body spray called Black Amethyst, also from B&BW. I actually only wear this at night. I'm kind of weird about my fragrances; I only wear certain ones at certain times of day. This one is very musky, which means it's an evening one for me, but it's not too heavy.

Then we move onto the Lubriderm lotion, which my mom bought for me from Big Lots about a year ago. I LOVE this lotion for right after I shave my legs, because unlike many other lotions, it doesn't sting. I think it has a lower alcohol content than most lotions or something. But it is awesome, and very lightly scented.

The little roll-on perfume at the bottom is from Gap. Actually, if you want to get really picky, it's an eau de toilette. It's called Washed Cotton, and it just smells clean. It's perfect for those times when I don't want anything overpowering. I like to put it behind my ears and on the back of my neck, so people get a little sniff of it when they hug me.

Then we arrive at the Coconut lotion from B&BW. This one has a very true coconut smell, which is actually kind of rare. I just want to eat it. It's a wonderfully simple summer smell.

Aaand finally, the Dream Angels Heavenly perfume from Victoria's Secret. My friend gave me this for Christmas last year. She wears it a lot too, so it reminds me of her every time I smell it. This one is a late afternoon/evening kind of smell for me. It's got a little of the musk thing going on, but it's not heavy either.

Top 5 Lipsticks (Summer)

So here are five lipsticks I've been loving lately. I don't wear lipstick every day, but when I do decide to wear some, here's what I've been reaching for.
L to R: NYC Air Kiss, ELF Rosy Raisin, Random, ELF Nicely Nude, Rimmel Airy Fairy

NYC Air Kiss: Nice watermelon-y shade for when I feel like a pop of color without it being too crazy.
ELF Rosy Raisin: My personal "my lips but better" color.
Random: This was in a no-name makeup kit my mom gave me a while ago. It's a very light rose gold-ish sort of color.
ELF Nicely Nude: Good slight, understated pinkish tone.
Rimmel Airy Fairy: Really pretty light rose color.

All of these have a pretty decent creamy formula. There are kind of a lot of nude-y shades here. Didn't notice that til just now, haha. Oh, the ring I'm wearing was a gift, so I'm not sure where it's from.

I realize this is random...

But I think this picture is beautiful. I THINK it's a painting of Roxana, the princess of Bactria, who married Alexander the Great. History is very inspirational for me. And really, just look at her clothes. SO pretty and flowy.

Small Haul (again)

I won't be able to do a lot of hauls, because I am a college student and my school is rather expensive, but I was in K-Mart today and I was a little bad. I went in because of these bandeau tops:
They were on sale for $3.99. My friend got some from another store and she paid $7.99, which I though was pretty decent. Most of the ones I've seen are about $10 or $12, which is completely ridiculous. But the $3.99 I can do! They're actually from Selena Gomez's line called Dream Out Loud. Here' a link to them:

I pulled the classic shopper move of going in for one thing and emerging with something completely unnecessary. Like these loafers by Thom McAn:

I seriously could not say no. They're so pretty! And so thepersianbabe from YouTube (love her)! And unfortunately, so $24.99. Ugh. I can't believe I just paid full price for shoes. But I do love them. And they are all lovely and  squishy on the inside.

What do you think of them?
